Who owns the money in our joint account?

You and your partner legally co-own your Ivella Joint Account. That means that both of you can deposit, withdraw, and spend the money from your account.

Do we need to be married to open a joint account?

No, you can open a joint account with whoever you’d like. However, the couples that most commonly open a joint account with Ivella are engaged, married, or living together. If you’re not yet ready for a joint account, consider the Split Account!

Are there fees associated with the Ivella Joint Account?

The Ivella Joint Account has no monthly maintenance fees, overdraft fees, or minimum account balances.

How many cards will we receive?

You and your partner will both receive one (1) physical card and one (1) virtual card, so in total you’ll be given four (4) Ivella Visa debit cards. Your virtual cards will be available to use instantly, and your physical card should arrive in 5-7 business days.

Can we send money to other people with our Joint Account?

Yes, you can send money from your Joint Account to any bank account holder in the United States. All you’ll need is an account number, routing number, and name.

Can we access ATMs with our Joint Account debit card?

Yes, you have fee-free access to over 55,000 Allpoint ATMs across the world.

Will this affect our credit?

No, the Ivella Joint Account functions like a joint checking and savings account and has no impact on you or your partner’s credit.

Who can close our joint account?

You and your partner both have access to the money and decisions made with your joint account. Either you or your partner can close your account, and this process does not need approval from the other person.

What happens to the money in our joint account if something happens to one of us?

In the event of a death, the assets of that account will belong to the remaining partner.
