Accounts & Banking
What is the Split Account?
The Split Account is a new way for couples to split and share their expenses. We’ve re-imagined what finances should look like for couples at an early stage in their relationship, and built a new experience to deliver that.
When you and your partner sign up for the Split Account you set a Split Ratio. This ratio is the default way that you’ll split expenses going forward. Whenever you or your partner makes a transaction using your Ivella Visa Debit Card we’ll split that purchase between your two accounts by your Split Ratio.
For example, if you and your partner set a Split Ratio of 50/50 and spend $80 at dinner, we’ll charge each of you $40 for that transaction.
What information do I share with my partner?
With Ivella, you and your partner maintain two individual accounts while being able to share the cost of transactions. In order for this experience to work, you're required to link your Ivella account with your partner's Ivella account.
When connecting to your partner you agree to share certain information with them regarding your Ivella account. This includes account information, account balance(s), transaction information, and transfer information.
When disconnecting from your partner you will no longer have any joint financial obligations, however, we are still required to share some information with your partner. This includes some account information, past transaction information, and past transfer information.
Can I change my ratio?
Yes, the Split Ratio that you set with your partner when signing up is not permanent. You and your partner can decide to change your Split Ratio at any time, however, you may both have to agree to the change.
Can I adjust the ratio of a specific transaction?
Yes, after a transaction has been made both you and your partner have the ability to adjust the ratio of that specific transaction. Changes to the ratio of a transaction will result in instant changes between your two balances to account for the change in payment obligation. However, both partners may have to agree to a change before it is made.
How do I transfer money in and out of my account?
We support ACH transfers from all major banking providers that are connected through Plaid. Read more about Plaid here.
Debit Cards
What cards will I receive when I sign up?
After signing up for Ivella, both you and your partner will receive a custom Ivella Visa Debit Card.

We do not charge any monthly account fees, minimum balance fees, or overdraft fees. For more on our fee schedule please refer to our Deposit Account Agreement.
We are working on releasing a premium account that will include cash back and more for a monthly subscription fee.
What happens if I lose my card or need a new card?

Do you cover against fraudulent purchases?
